The standard elbow for pressure piping
The 1.5D long radius (LR) elbow is the default choice on most process, water, gas and steam lines. Its bend radius of 1.5 times the nominal pipe size is a good balance between space and pressure drop: the flow turns smoothly while the fitting stays compact.
Our 90° 1.5D elbows are cold-formed from seamless A234 WPB pipe, with ASME B16.9 dimensions. They come in STD wall (schedule 40 on most sizes) and XS wall (schedule 80), painted, with bevelled ends ready for welding.
For the lowest possible pressure drop, or for an S235 line to the European standard, see the 90° 3D elbow.

Frequently asked questions
What does “1.5D” mean on an elbow?
It is the bend radius, measured at the centreline: 1.5 times the nominal pipe size. This is the long radius (LR) elbow. A short radius (1D) elbow is more compact but causes more pressure drop.
Should I choose STD or XS wall thickness?
Match the wall thickness of the pipe the elbow is welded to. STD equals schedule 40 up to NPS 10, XS equals schedule 80 up to NPS 8. If in doubt, give the pipe specification in your quote request and we will check it.
Do the elbows come with a certificate?
Yes. Every shipment comes with an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate, and the heat number is marked on each fitting.
